I've been to Tunisia once a few years ago (just Djerba and Tunis/Sidi Bou Said) and I absolutely loved it and want to go back.
I’m ignorant on Tunisia. Is Tunisia ok with sex toys? I would be less worried about losing it in luggage and more concerned about getting in trouble while entering the country.
Both are great (I have been to Tunisia, and it's lovely, and admittedly with a better tourism infrastructure)

I've traveled to both Morocco and Tunisia and Algeria is definitely the least touristic country of the three, though I found Tunisia also very comfortable to travel in.

As we drove further south (Tozeur, Douz, Matmata...), they spoke more Tunisian Arabic, but generally French as well. Being Spanish, I managed to communicate fine the whole time!
We found it very safe overall, though obviously we traveled with normal precautions. The people are incredibly warm and always willing to help.
