So, Tucson has a great cycling scene and some decent rides, but it's pretty limited. The main thing it has going for it is extremely good weather in winter - I think it's the most stable winter weather in the continental US. The rest of the year, it's waaaaayyyyy too hot. ... And the traffic is wretched, you have to know what roads are OK to be on and avoid the rest.

If you want the Mallorca vibe without doing a whole Europe thing, check out Tucson. I know it’s not an island lol, but the cycling culture is huge, drivers are used to riders, coffee is solid, and you can rent decent road bikes pretty easily.
