Tolino

Pros

• Tolino - haven't don't a book-for-book comparison, but I think it's slightly faster than Kindle, especially PDFs.
• Tolino is much more capable of being able to add books acquired from various Internet sources. Amazon expects you to read only Amazon books. ... You can definitely add epubs to Tolino with Calibre.
• The tolino is so cute
• I believe the only dedicated (non-Android) eInk readers that can currently handle Readium LCP are PocketBook (branded as Vivlio in France) and Tolino (the German version of Kobo, with Kobo hardware but their own software).
• In Germany, I can also recommend Tolino devices, they work great. Can be used with most german book stores and through the Tolino cloud you can access books bought with any retailer that is part of that.

Cons

• Tolinos are rebranded Kobo devices, but Tolino made until recently their own OS which doesn't has the best reputation
• Look at AliExpress for used Kindle, Kobo and Tolino.
• Just in case you’re in Germany - I think Kobo is replaced by Tolino there. Same hardware, different software, some integration with German ebook stores or .. something like that.
• I have a Tolino with warm light but I barely slide it to warmer temperature coz I don't like it
• I read also that is buggy the software adopted in the tolino and that even thow you pach it with a Kobo software (koreader i think its called)
