• Also The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. Quick reads that hook pretty well as good on-ramps back into reading.
• The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst: a librarian returns to her parents' tiny island hometown to avoid civil war, and builds a new life there.

Cons

• I started reading this one as an ebook, but it couldn’t hold my interest, so I switched to the audiobook and it made for pleasant background noise while I did housework.
• It turns out that it’s not my kind of cozy, and the whimsy set my teeth on edge. I really tried to get into it and find something compelling; it was like trying to force a spark with a perfectly cromulent person on a blind date.
• Not enough of a plot to hold up the cozy elements.
• I’m going to go with The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst. There’s some romance but closed door. A bit of tense situation action but not overwhelming. That said if you’re looking to avoid all conflict maybe this is not the book.
