Pros

  • „The Sandman“ remains the greatest horror-adjacent story penned in German for me; the only one I can think of that comes even close would be Ewers' „The Spider.“
  • The Sandman is excellent especially if you read the books.
  • I thought that "The Sandman" is one of Hoffmann's strongest stories, especially when looking at gothic/horror ones. Dealing with trauma and losing grip of reality are done really well, in my opinion.
  • recently read a couple of books by The Sandman — just humorous Aussie fiction / possibly non fiction, and loved just the simple stories made to make you laugh or be horrified.
  • E.T.A. Hoffmann's "The Sandman" from 1816 was the creation of the evil, horrific version of the folkloric creature.

Cons

  • Typical of its era, the story's a little rambling and melodramatic in places, but still makes a strong impression.
  • Others include : Schitt’s Creek, The Sandman, Superstore, Inventing Anna…

I'm not a big fan of full casts, but of the ones I have done I think I enjoyed Dune and The Sandman the most.
