• You mentioned the surge - at first I was skeptical but I’ve come to really like it. Granted the storage seems a tad overboard and it can hold a lot of stuff, but I love the organisation of it, the back panel and straps are very comfortab...
• For that Automatic/Billy Idol vibe you're probably gonna want something that does good analog modeling anyway, so maybe check out Serum or even some free stuff like Surge before dropping cash on hardware
• Would your budget let you step up to the Osprey Nebula or the TNF Borealis or Surge? Those are terrific bags.
• I love everything about the Surge: the external laptop and tablet compartment, good organization, semi-flat bottom, sternum strap, top loading.

Cons

• the front pockets were pretty nice, but I disliked how they 'ate into' the inside main section. if they were loaded up, main section would become super convoluted to access.
• the Surge is close but tight ... I've been considering the Surge, but the only redeeming quality of that for my tastes is the size because I'm not really crazy about the materials, the pockets or the looks.
• I am deciding between tnf surge and this.
• I have an older version of TNF Surge and I am now looking for a backpack with "ventilation".
