Parent context: The inclusion of The Ministry of Time and The Lost Story raised my eyebrows. I thought both were just flat out bad, especially The Lost Story, and the exclusion of some of the phenomenal books this year that got mainstream success in the fantasy sphere was notable. Reply: I’m not super surprised at general audiences loving The Ministry of Time, because a lot of people aren’t too picky with their books, but I’m surprised at how many Best of the Year lists I’m seeing it on, because it’s hard to imagine how it stands out if you’re reading 50+ books a year

I’m reading The Ministry of Time and it’s a fun read so far, keeps me engaged, but is solely my ‘bedtime book’ so I pull it out and read a few pages.
