The Master and Margarita

Pros

• NOOO this is one my favorite books and I don’t want this douche near it
• I've been rading through The Master And Margarita (Pevear and Volokhonsky translation.) and I am really enjoying the 'magical realism' aspect of it and the humor.
• Here are some of my all time favorite books. ... The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
• While I've enjoyed some magical realism (The Master and Margarita, Borges, adjacent stuff), I've loved all of St. Elmo stuff.
• The Master and Margarita. Lost the plot and lost interest quickly the first time. Picked it up a couple of years later (found a pretty £1 copy in a thrift store) and it’s now one of favourites.

Cons

• The book is nearly impossible to adapt. So much of the point of the story is made up of so many loosely connected stories that the idea of covering all of the material in 2 hours is bonkers.
• See, that sounds like it could be amazing, but that book...man, I haven't read it in 20 years but it seems like it would be very challenging to adapt.
• Parent context: Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve heard great things about that novel, but I’ve also heard it has a lot of magical realism, which isn’t my favorite style. Do you have any thoughts about that? Reply: It certainly does, s...
