Wait, I can always recommend listening or reading the transcripts of The Magnus Archives. My favourite work of fiction. The author explicitly said he wouldn't write about violence against women, and the violence against animals is minimal (just insects)

The Magnus Archives is one of the best horror podcasts, if not the best. Some of the stories have rivaled many short story collections I have read and the over- arching narrative and metaplot elevate this and make it truly unique. All five seasons are amazing and the deeper you go, the more you find out about the paranormal and how it influences everything. A joy to listen to and very very highly recommend

if you like this then you might like The Magnus Archives audiodrama. ... There's a lot of gnarly horror in it, and I consider it one of the best stories I've ever come across. It's like a Lovecraftian X-Files.

I know The Magnus Archives is a podcast not a book, but for taste reasons it’s worth knowing I consider the TMA the best fiction I have ever encountered.

It’s not an audio book, but The Magnus Archives is a great horror podcast! It starts off as a series of seemingly independent stories, but by later seasons you learn that they were all connected. The voice acting is good, the plot is great, and there are some episodes that really made me squirm. Highly recommend!
