• Something like The Little Strangers is more Gothic slow burn.
• The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters. The common element is the idea that ordinary people can create hauntings, not only of places but of our own minds.
• And I’ll second, The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters. I still can’t stop thinking about it.

• People love this book and I'm not sure why. I've even read it twice (a second time because of so many people I respect raving about this book that I had thought I'd missed something). It wasn't for me - although, I did like the writing b...
• I would call it a great historical fiction novel but a bad horror novel. The middle of the book has at least 100 pages where nothing even vaguely spooky happens.
• Nothing scary happens, if that's what you're hoping for. I was a little irked that I bothered with the whole thing, frankly.
• I'm on p100 of The Little Stranger and there has been no indication as yet that this is even a horror novel at all. Might as well be about English country romance or could turn into a war thing.
