The King Is Dead

Pros

• I'll always upvote King is Dead. Such an underrated gem.
• TKID (SE.) is a great game with the elegance of chess like gameplay, you play a card you move a few cubes and before you turn around the game is over.
• If you're playing with two, I'd look into getting The King is Dead. Works great at two (and three!) and can be broken down to easily fit in a backpack.
• **The King Is Dead** is another quick game, this time about politics in medieval Great Britian. Very simple rules but very tough decisions. Love it.
• Four player The King is Dead is a great 2v2 game - partly because you are not allowed to discuss tactics or strategy with your teammate. So all you get to do is look at them imploringly.

Cons

• she and I'll play chess with me, but doesn't like The King is Dead in spite of it basically being chess, I think simply because it's not chess.
• I just got **The King Is Dead** and have played twice now. The strategy for the first 5-6 turns is very opaque to me. And by the end of the game the options are very limited and endings feel a bit locked in.
