I had more mixed feelings about the openers of The Jasmine Throne and Between the Earth and Sky.
The prose was not the stronger I've ever read, and the characters were all a bit too shallow, but the pacing was just perfect, the world was beautiful and the story was fun enough that it pulled me out of the reading slump caused by The Incandescent
