Pros
- The Faithful and the Fallen - 7/10
- You might also like The Faithful and The Fallen by John Gwynne.
- I also love epic fantasy (John Gwynne's Faithful and the Fallen being an example). I'm more looking for characters I can get attached to, and prose that feels lush.
- The Greenbone Saga, The Faithful and the Fallen and any novel by Guy Gavriel Kay.
- Other series with memorable endings for me include the Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynne, Shadows of the Apt by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and Temeraire by Naomi Novik.
Cons
- In its conception and execution, The Faithful and the Fallen is just incredibly basic and simple. It’s not unpleasant to read (although if you’re looking for something more developed it gets boring very quickly) but it isn’t anything mor...
- I’m not a huge fan of Faithful of the Fallen personally. I thought it started strong, but as the series dragged on it just became more and more of a slog to get through. I’m not exaggerating when I say probably 80% of the series is just...
- imo, it's fun, has good characters, great action, and a super bland classic fantasy setting with a lot of of pacing/story issues. I enjoyed it a lot, I'd also never put it anywhere close to the best of fantasy.

I read all books back to back and was so hooked I couldn't stop reading. But after finishing it, the more I think about it the more nonsensical it becomes. The twist to the prophecy was cool but was executed poorly. Also, the character work overall was average at best, and I hated how much plot armor the villains had.
I’m not a huge fan of Faithful of the Fallen personally. I thought it started strong, but as the series dragged on it just became more and more of a slog to get through. I’m not exaggerating when I say probably 80% of the series is just characters running through the woods fighting, being chased, or chasing someone. It get’s really exhausting and the payoff just isn’t worth it.
