Pros
- also, do use the website tabelog for places to eat if you want authentic. most google reviews are left by tourists so...take those with a pinch of salt.
- I'd suggest going to Tabelog and use their reservation system to find a restaurant for the day(s) you want for 22 people, and specify that you will have children.
- Regarding stalls and restaurants, you should definitely check Tabelog
- we're just gonna look on Tabelog for whats good nearby
- Avoid restaurants that plaster "English Menu" at the front unless it's highly rated (3.5 and up) on Tabelog. Tabelog is the japanese equivalent to Yelp or Tripadvisor just way more harsh and honest.
Cons
- I had Tabelog, but it was not as easy to search for restaurants, so I used it only to double-check reviews sometimes.
- Especially when we were at large building with a ton of floors… we’d see a good spot on tabelog and then had trouble finding it. I’m sure if we had spent a lil more time then we probably could have found it useful but we were lazy lol. G...
- The app is overwhelming, so many choices and the translations on restaurant names don't seem to be very accurate compared to Google maps.
- I had tabelog but didn’t really use it much. I think maybe once we ate at spot from the app. It got to be so overwhelming with all the choices.

I love that in Japan they have their own website, Tabelog, to rate restaurants. We need something like that in Europe.
Tabelog app with “children welcome” filter for child/family-friendly restaurants
Tabelog is a good guide, there is a sweet spot of medium-high rated places that are delish but don’t have crazy queues like the top-rated Tabelog places.
Parent context: Thank you!! What's the best way to book a reservation - Tabelog? Reply: Yeah that's what I would do.
In Japan, don’t go by Google reviews, use Tabelog to find places to eat as it’s what the Japanese use to rate restaurants. Anything above a 3 is pretty great, anything above a 3.5 is spectacular. ... Tabelog is always right.
