T. Kingfisher

Pros

• Kingfisher - truly a good writer.
• Parent context: Great, thank you! I’ve heard of T Kingfisher a bit, but not in horror - I’ll check them out! Reply: I really enjoyed their retelling of the House of Usher.
• +1 to T Kingfisher!
• I suggest Ursula Vernon writing as T. Kingfisher. I am not a diehard horror fan, but I like her stuff.
• My modern new stars rising vote would be T. Kingfisher. Highlights are What Moves the Dead and The Hallow Places

Cons

• To a lesser extent, T. Kingfisher, whose books are readable and enjoyable but feel a tier down for reasons I can’t really articulate.
• The latter is incapable of writing an original story and just slaughters older literature that’s now old enough to be public domain.
• I had this issue with T Kingfisher and found no difference between her prose and her characters. Absolute drivel and lazy writing.
• I had a run of these with new horror this year as well. Rachel Harrison, T Kingfisher, kinda similar with Diavola, Maeve Fly. It’s just millennial humor I think.
• Not OP, but I suspect T Kingfisher is guilty of this. I don’t mind it but I have noticed that her protagonists are pretty interchangeable.
