Pros
- On the West Coast, St Pete is great. Really cool little town and park along the ocean. The Salvador Dali museum is really cool.
- St. Pete has the best access to nightlife and restaurants/bars. St. Pete beaches aren’t bad by the way, and you can still drive down to Fort De Soto for the best beach in the Tampa Bay Area (imo)
- Florida native here. In your 30's go to St. Pete etc. for nightlife, food etc.
- We stayed in St. Pete, saw a concert with Sting in St. Petersburg, visited Orlando, and spent time with friends in Tampa. It was relaxing, easy, and just felt great the entire time.
- For the night life St. Pete definitely. For shops, clubs, party scene St. Pete is where you want to be.

I would suggest St. Pete or Clearwater. Beach city vibes I think your family would like with more things to do beyond drinking.
I would stay on the west coast and explore Tampa, st pete, Naples, etc. if I were you.
St Pete for sure! Its perfect for what you’re wanting to do.
