Sony ULT Wear
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Sony ULT Wear is a bass-heavy, mid-range headphone designed as a more affordable alternative to the flagship XM series. It is characterized by its aggressive "slam" and energetic sound profile, featuring a dedicated ULT button for bass boosting. While it inherits many premium features like solid active noise cancellation (ANC), multipoint connectivity, and responsive touch controls, it trades off neutral sound accuracy and premium build materials for a more consumer-friendly price point.
Pros
- Powerful, energetic bass performance with a dedicated boost mode
- Solid active noise cancellation (ANC) effective for daily environments
- Excellent battery life, reported up to 50 hours without ANC
- Feature-rich, including multipoint pairing, auto-pause, and transparency mode
- Battery is relatively easy to replace according to community guides
Cons
- Bass can be overwhelming and lack accuracy for critical listening
- Build quality can feel "plasticy" or "flimsy" compared to higher-end models
- High clamping force may cause discomfort during long listening sessions
- Bulky design compared to more compact budget models like the CH720N
Caveats
- Requires manual EQ adjustment in the Sony app to achieve a more balanced sound
- No official IPX rating, making them unsuitable for heavy sweating or cardio
- Some users express concern over long-term hinge durability
Best for
- Bass enthusiasts and fans of EDM, hip-hop, or action movies
- Users seeking flagship-level features (ANC, multipoint) on a tighter budget
- Casual listeners who prefer an 'energetic' rather than neutral sound
Avoid if
- You require studio-accurate or neutral sound signatures
- You need headphones specifically for high-intensity gym or outdoor use
- You are sensitive to heavy clamping force or bulky headwear

It doesn't seem horribly difficult to replace: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Sony+ULT+WEAR+Battery+Replacement/184451
Sony ULT wear is around $130, the budget version to xm3/xm4. I’d go with that instead of unknown brand.
Out of my BT headphones I think the Sony ULT Wear are the best looking. Sony in general makes decent looking headphones. The ULTs had to be EQd to get the right sound out of them though. Once I figured out the EQ they actually sound decent.
What I love about the 770s is the great sound. It is a little bass forward, in fact they put out bass that can nearly compete with Sony ULT Wear.
If you like the XM4, the ULT Wear is a natural upgrade according to several reviews that I've read. I own the ULT Wear and think it sounds good, very bass heavy of course.
The ULTs have more slam to them.
I also have a pair of Sony ULT Wear and JBL Live 770NC. Both have a very bass heavy presentation and honestly, they are fun to listen to once in a while.
Sony ult, if you can find or stretch to get a pair of Sony xm4 or 5 you’d love those forsure.
Parent context: Uh not reading that ChatGPT log tbh dude. But if you’re in the US it doesn’t get better the. Sennheiser accentum, or Sony ULT. If you like a lot of bass and want things to connect as easy as possible get Sony. If you want slightly better sound quality and are ok with the sennheiser app being kinda mid then that’s your bet. I will say though for like 50-75$ more you can easily get a pair of xm5’s … Reply: If you like a lot of bass and want things to connect as easy as possible get Sony.
Wireless Sony Ult Wear perhaps or how about a pair of wireless iems?
