Song of Achilles

Pros

• If she enjoys novels, Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller is a beautiful love story between Achilles and Atraxes. It would not at all help with understanding history or your current reality but it highlights our common humanity.
• Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Not traditional fantasy but Greek gods & goddesses. One of the best books I’ve read in my life!

• Have you read Madeline Miller's Song of Achilles yet? It's such a beautiful take on the Trojan War from Patroclus's perspective.

Cons

• I know a bunch of those YA type of books (like Red, White & Royal Blue, The Song of Achilles, and alike) and I did enjoy them to some extent but really it’s just not my thing.
• The characters being queer is a pretty large part of the story of Song of Achilles as well.
• Madeleine Miller: Circe and the Song of Achilles (very distant from the Patroclos of myth unfortunately)
• I tried picking up something a little more serious, Song of Achilles, but found it too much of a slog for my tired brain.
• i've also found that many of the most popular "adult fantasy" books there-- "adult" as in explicitly advertised and discussed as " for the grown-ups", i mean, not adult as in erotica lol-- end up having a significant YA "feel", prose-wis...
