Sistine Chapel

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.
Pros
- St Peters and Sistine Chapel were exquisite. Glad we went to check off the box but if we ever went back to Rome probably would skip. Maybe Sistine Chapel again.
- It has a special place in my memory just because the art is so profound in a unique space.
- D3: The Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica dome climb
- I already booked tickets to the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel
- Honestly the route to Sistine Chapel that they take you through is incredible enough for one visit.
Cons
- Realistically, don't do this. Have respect for institutions charged with preserving art and the experience.
- Went with my son and partner in 2024 and the noise level alone was disgusting, let alone the people blatantly taking photos and using flash. And it felt worse because I was so looking forward to sharing this experience
- don't be a dick like all the other dicks in the Sistine Chapel who think they are above the ruls.
- It's one of the holiest place in the Vatican, it's a church ... have a little self awareness.
- I was at the Sistine chapel last year. People were sitting on the floor. It was loud. People taking photos. Our guide was pissed off at the people - but also at staff for doing nothing about it. Made it underwhelming.

The Sistine Chapel was packed and easily the loudest area of our whole museum walkthrough. Security just kept letting more and more people in even though there was barely any room to move so my wife and I just got out of there.
Same experience a week ago. Honestly kind of ruined the whole thing for me.
