Pros

  • The towns of Garda, Bardolino, and Sirmione are also quite nice. Sirmione has some well preserved Roman ruins.
  • Some photos from Lake Garda region in Italy. Peschiera, Sirmione and Desenzano. Spent 3 days in the area and all three towns were unique and offered great scenery and a relaxing atmosphere.
  • Def.. malcesine, peschiera and sirmione the ones ive seen. They are like como towns.
  • Was there this june .loved sirmione and bardalino
  • Sirmione is popular with tourists because it's more accessible and has a main ferry stop and a cool 14th century castle.

Cons

  • Going by the articles about extreme overcrowding I wouldn't plan to go to Sirmione (or Como) at the weekend.
  • Sirmione is definitely the most overrun by tourists in my experience, but you're not going to avoid tourism. That simply comes with the territory when you go to Lago di Garda.
  • I know Garda Is also very touristy, especially Limone and Sirmione but I don't know about the other locations.
  • Sirmione is the most scenic option, but it can be crowded, so going early helps.
  • Sirmione is quite touristy, I preferred Peschiera del Garda and Desenzano and Salo.

Milan > Varenna (3 nights to include day trips all around Como) > Verona (3 nights to include daytrip to Sirmione and other places on Garda) > Ortisei (2-3 nights depending how much hiking you want to do) > Venice (2 nights) > Florence (3-4 nights depending on Ortisei) and fly home from Florence.
