- I’m just finishing up the hospital now and absolutely loving this. Though I did take a break so pacing definitely might be an issue.
- I loved the Silent Hill 2 remake, even though I kind of hated it for most of its runtime. It’s a disgusting game, covered in muck and rust, that puts you into an incredibly dark mental space while playing through it. I would recommend it...

- I honestly find it to be a total slog. After awhile it's no longer scary, you know when the radio goes off its going to be a mannequin or a nurse, or worse, a bug that is hiding under a car or table and doesn't really pose a threat but w...

I honestly find it to be a total slog. After awhile it's no longer scary, you know when the radio goes off its going to be a mannequin or a nurse, or worse, a bug that is hiding under a car or table and doesn't really pose a threat but will make the radio continuously go off until you find it.
I think the Silent Hill 2 Remake does a satisfying rendition of the main gameplay loop, despite the shortcomings you pointed out in your review. ... Going into SH2R, I didn't expect this game to be so combat heavy. The focus on combat was also one of the reasons why I wasn't really scared by this game after the first couple of hours.

Man I really felt the pacing issues with the extra padding they had(an issue I find somewhat common with remakes in general), most of which was just adding more combat to the sections in a series that's at its' best when using combat more sparingly. I'm still glad to have played it and really enjoyed it
That being said, the remake is just an inferior version of the game, graphics aside. Needlessly expanded areas, combat which becomes infuriating when you KNOW you will have yet another enemy waiting every other room... The hospital and prison are obscenely, needlessly large
In a cruel twist of fate, Silent Hill 2 Remake is the worst of the bunch in terms of capturing this modern iteration of survival horror tropes. ... In pretty much every way, the gameplay of the Silent Hill 2 remake is a neutered and janky recreation of the modern RE formula.
In pretty much every way, the gameplay of the Silent Hill 2 remake is a neutered and janky recreation of the modern RE formula. ... It’s hard to understate the damage this does to pacing; in the original, I had just reached the Hospital (roughly the game’s halfway point) after 4 hours. In the remake, it took me closer to 10.
I loved the Silent Hill 2 remake, even though I kind of hated it for most of its runtime. It’s a disgusting game, covered in muck and rust, that puts you into an incredibly dark mental space while playing through it. I would recommend it to anyone with 16 hours spare and lots, *lots* of patience.
