This. Shibuya isn't what it used to be in the 2000s, these days it seems half the people are foreigners, the "alternative" vibe is completely gone and it's mostly international or chain stores. And Yoyogi park, now with rubbish scattered everywhere, is the only place in Japan (and I've been to almost every prefecture) where I've been catcalled -- by a Mexican drunk tourist.
I'm honestly not sure. I think Shibuya would have been better than Shinjuku, but it doesn't feel like the right choice, either - but it did feel slightly less scammy when we were in that area.
Too touristy just luke Shinjuku and Dotonbori. Imo head out of these places to get a better experience of Japan
In two days in Tokyo we visited Shinjukui, Shibuya, Roppongi briefly, and Asakusa. We crossed at the Shibuya Scramble, saw the Godzilla head, did light clothes shopping around that area, ate Ichiran Nishi Ramen in Shinjuku, saw the 3d cat sign.

Not to mention, each city within Tokyo like Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Ueno, Nakameguro, Yamata Ginza, etc all just have their own unique feel to it.
