In Serbia nowadays you can go to the most popular towns for tourists with a fast train. Those being Belgrade, Novi Sad and Subotica. The train will also be connected to Hungary very soon, if Hungary interests you too.

Serbia is nice if you want energy, and has free public transport. However, it is expensive in parts. The people are also super welcoming, and nightlife is their big draw. Walking along the Belgrade Waterfront is stunning.
Enjoy serbia. I had a great time visiting Forts and ruins and absolutely stumbled across the Rock house.
Visa free countries like Serbia was abused as an easy route to Europe and seek refuge.
