Pros

  • Obviously I recognise the Poly D, what else is in your setup?
  • Outstanding op. Perfect content for this sub, and a perfect showcase of that instrument.
  • the Poly D (top) has 4 note paraphony. good enough for chord work
  • Not OP but I really enjoy mine. It covers mono territory well and the paraphonic mode can be fun. Esp. when oscillators are set to various octaves. You can have chord voicings act unpredictably if you change which keys are played f...
  • Yea the Poly D seems pretty great.

Cons

  • Mackie also takes in 2600 (L/R), Edge, Poly D (L/R), and DrumBrute Impact.
  • The matriarch and poly d aren’t polyphonic, they are paraphonic. Meaning you can play different notes on the oscillators but the filter and envelopes will only trigger for the first note (or retrigger each note if you can change the sett...
  • Poly D feels like a toy (tested it out in de store when I wanted first synth, landed on GM instead) but I believe the sounds are quite decent.

Not OP but I really enjoy mine. It covers mono territory well and the paraphonic mode can be fun. Esp. when oscillators are set to various octaves. You can have chord voicings act unpredictably if you change which keys are played first each time. The oscillators will play in order of notes starting so osc 1, 2, 3, 4 will fire in that order. Makes for some fun spontaneous writing sessions. Modulation sources are pretty versatile as well. Love getting a mixture of lfo and noise to get some dirt and grit in the sound via mod wheel.

The matriarch and poly d aren’t polyphonic, they are paraphonic. Meaning you can play different notes on the oscillators but the filter and envelopes will only trigger for the first note (or retrigger each note if you can change the setting) and the other notes will be on/off.
