The Guard L1 Electro (with a SEB228 powerhead) is USD$1499. I don't think it's cheaper than a comparable Sebo E3 Premium with the ET-1
The E3/K3 Premiums with the ET-1 brushroll would be more expensive and in a canister/barrel configuration. These would be more convenient for cleaning furniture and high surfaces
We purchased the sebo E3 premium and genuinely it's absolutely amazing. Couldn't recommend it more. ... But it's brilliant for cleaning our carpet 10/10
In actual fact, I have a Sebo e3 premium that I swear by. After going over the same carpet with the v15, it always finds a fair amount of fine dust and grit, even on auto mode.
I’d be pretty hesitant to get a Sebo d4 premium. That’s very much overkill for cat trees and 2k square feet of hard flooring. I’d probably skip the e3 as well.
The E3 is also an excellent choice if you want something a little more compact and would rather save some money. You still get the tapered hose, excellent airflow, handle-mounted suction control, and the same ET-1 powerhead.
The E3 is probably the sweet spot for most homes. You get the centered hose connection, tapered hose, and push-button cord rewind in a slightly smaller package than the D4. It’s one of those vacuums that owners absolutely love.
At your budget, I'd strongly consider the Sebo E3 Premium and Miele C3 Cat & Dog. Both are fantastic, but if carpet cleaning is your top priority and you've got a heavy-shedding German Shepherd, I'd probably lean Sebo. The easy brush roll access alone is worth it.
The E3 feels like a more solid build and it comes with a 10 year warranty when you buy from an authorized dealer.
The power head on the Sebo did seem a lot more sleek
