Pros

  • The Jot is more than enough.
  • The Schiit Jotunheim 2 or 3 has enough.

I received the replacement unit yesterday and immediately noticed a buzzing sound coming from the 6.3 mm headphone jack. The buzzing is loud enough to be clearly audible while listening to music. It occurs when the volume knob is set between roughly 12 o’clock and 5 o’clock, regardless of whether the amplifier is on low or high gain (though it is significantly louder on high gain).

I was thinking about adding a dedicated amplifier to the RME, so I considered the Schiit JOTUNHEIM 3. The idea would be to connect the RME and the Schiit via XLR and acquire a new XLR cable for my Audeze LCD-X and use everything in a balanced way. I would like to know if I will see any performance gain, or if it's an upgrade that wouldn't be worth the investment.
