I will say that you should keep Savannah on your list of places to go at some point, especially if you liked Charleston. There are similarities, but Savannah is just more comfortable and laid back to me.
Charleston and Savannah will be warm in May and are humid year round, but both have great beaches nearby, will be pleasant in the mornings and evenings, and are super walkable with excellent amenities, amazing food, and some of the most beautiful, historic architecture in the country.
Alternatively, Savannah, GA is a great little city. Lots of history and a lovely historic area.
Savannah (though I hear it is similar to Charleston), Yucatan Peninsula, Niagara Falls + stops in Upstate NY, Cape Cod, Montreal.
