Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • I use tailscale woth rustdesk
  • Note on RustDesk: It definitely supports Ubuntu 20.04. You were likely running into a Wayland display server issue; switching your Ubuntu session to X11 usually fixes the "not supported" or black screen errors with remote tools.
  • rustdesk is exactly that, remote access, but selfhosted.
  • Rustdesk is great, very reliable
  • RustDesk can be both used with the public or even your own instance if you don't trust the public one. It's UI is inspired by TV, but far simpler imo. It being FOSS might also allow you to dig into the internals, open tickets for the dev...

Cons

  • I try Ruskdesk but its not support in UBUNTU 20.04 i want to use without any vpn and all
  • I’ve also tried RustDesk and TeamViewer — they work okay, but when I use a V P N set to a distant country, performance drops a lot (though that might be the V P N’s fault).

Not sure if Rust Desk fits the bill but I've used it and love that it's open source.

Host your own Rustdesk and it costs nothing.

I have used ScreenConnect in the past and also TeamViewer and Rust desk is on a par with them in my opinion, in some ways outperforms.
