Rubio Monocoat

Pros

• The hard wax oils, such as Rubio, are very protective and can be re-applied without totally removing the old oil.
• Rubio is absolutely the way to go with colors, though.
• But for cabinetry, this stuff is awesome. Especially with a primo countertop accent.
• Im a big fan. Yes, its on the spendy side, but the ease of application and simplicity of repairing makes it a pretty solid choice.
• I'm a huge fan of Rubio on walnut. There's just something about it.

Cons

• The right one is actually Rubio for comparison and for some reason it just picks up way too much glare from the lights.
• Love not having to deal with the two parts — the cap of my accelerator can is always getting stuck. (And I think osmo doesn’t have the same flammability issues as Rubio?)
• I don’t think Rubio would be nearly as popular with hobbyist woodworkers if it wasn’t for the social media placement.
• Where it is not good, my humble opinion, is consistently used surfaces like floors and table tops. Can it be refinished and reapplied easily, yes, but it’s matte and sometimes I need a bit more shine so on floors I’ll use Bona and polyac...
• Rubio is a poor choice for a dining table, especially if it’s going to see heavy use. Rubio will polish up and look worn quickly, it’s susceptible to food staining, and spot repairs are quite visible.
