- The SP404 is used a lot more in hip hop/ breakbeat/lo-fi . It's a super capable sampler with solid, easy to understand workflow.

I would get a used SP404 sampler and drum machine. More fun to play along with and excellent FXs chain to exploit.

Leaning toward the sp404. The new one has ACB roland drum machines. I've seen people use it and it makes sense to me
