Am I the only one who DNF'd this series? The villains just became more and more comically wacky evil in a completely unintended way. Like, almost all of them. Even the really minor ones. All the while Royce played shallow lip service to gray morality while the actual setting grew increasingly over the top black and white, really slapping your face with how evil the bad guys were.

Excellent series. Definitely sticks the landing. No complaints.
I'm on book four out of six right now (The Emerald Storm) and it's just been a pretty fast paced and enjoyable series to read. What starts out as the framing of a pair of thieves for regicide quickly turns into a series spanning plot involving the fate of all mankind, and the bromance between Royce and Hadrian is just so much fun to read about.
Riyria Chronicles, Riyria Revelations, are basically 2 competent men going about fun adventures
