Pros

  • We played Gnome Hollow and River of Gold at TantrumCom. Bought River of Gold. It’s also not talked about as much but great game.
  • I absolutely recommend the game, definitely one to lookout.
  • River of Gold is gorgeous and is pretty easy to learn. Lots of paths to score points so games feel fairly unique
  • Awesome—I think this is the game I’m most in trying from 2024!
  • I love this game. It’s snappy and intuitive to learn and there’s a ton of paths to winning.

Cons

  • Bit surprised at everyone having positive reactions. I played it once and it really made me feel nothing. It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't great. We played it and then everyone was like "Yeah, we just played a board game".
  • Fantastic game, and one of my favorites of 2024! Beautiful to look at too. ... My only big complaint is the box, which just barely provides enough room for all of the components, and even then, I had to watch a video of someone else pu...

Fantastic game, and one of my favorites of 2024! Beautiful to look at too. ... My only big complaint is the box, which just barely provides enough room for all of the components, and even then, I had to watch a video of someone else putting everything away to figure out how to do it myself. A pain in the ass to set up and and tear down every time because of the abysmal insert and box size.

I've had a lot of fun in a couple of 4 player games. It looks much more intimidating than it ends up being once people get a few turns under their belt. That said, the AP is real, throughout.

I love that it's not so light weight that it's boring but it would also be successful for newer players looking for something slightly higher than a "gateway" game. ... But I'm sure glad I checked out River of Gold.
