Pros
- If you really want to stay in one of the towns I would vote Riomaggiore
- I'd stay in Riomaggiore or Manarola cause of the views.
- Riomaggiore was also my favorite part of my recent Italy trip. Loved the atmosphere and beautiful views of that small town.
- Cinque Terre, Riomaggiore, Italy: My favorite place in Italy, yes, even over Rome. The vibe of a coastal town; it has a small-town feeling, and the bay or cove is something straight out of a movie (can also cliff jump into it).
- 2 days in Cinque Terre (staying in Riomaggiore). ... I highly recommend staying in one of the 5 towns. They have a lot of charm and are much more enjoyable after the day crowd disperses.
Cons
- as you can imagine the most overwhelming ones were cinque terre ones. i think i skipped the last one, riomaggiore, cause it was too much.
- Riomaggiore was crowded when we went there; I think it’s a nice place to visit for an hour or two but over several days I think it’d get to be too much.

Riomaggiore and Manarola, despite being popular stops, do live up to expectations, and I found both to be pleasant, with the best waters and views.
I must say I expected the worst crowd wise but it was completely the opposite. We spent 4 nights by the church square perched over town with the best view I could imagine. ... It had almost small village vibes, I'm not sure if it was the season or particular to Riomaggiore but we loved every minute.

I'll second Riomaggiore; my wife and I spent a few days there last June and we stayed in a nice little apartment there. ... once appertivo time rolls around it's really spectacular. We found a few cool bars, one on the cliff over the sea, as well as having some surprisingly good meals.
