Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • Day 2 go all-in on museums - the Rijksmuseum is incredible (get timed tickets in advance!).
  • The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are both worth your time (book tickets in advance, they do sell out).
  • If you want to do any museums, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh are both close.
  • Book the main museums in advance (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House - all need timed entry tickets booked online).
  • The Rijksmuseum is essential for Dutch art history and culture - really world class.

Cons

  • The Rijks has some annoying stairs, but is almost entirely wheelchair accessible. They don't have wheelchairs though.
  • Also got the audio guide for Rijksmuseum, and while it provided a lot of context for the pieces, I feel like a (knowledgeable) person talking irl is always better.

I would not discourage the Rijksmuseum while you are there. It is very close and they have several Rembrandts and Vermeers. They also have a fair amount of Van Gogh. It is much more of a traditional Museum than the Van Gogh Museum. I have been to both on separate trips and if you are a fan of art, they are both world class.

Hi, if you're interested in (Dutch) art, then definitely visit Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. They're super close to each other.
