Honestly for me Rick Steves is a mixed bag. He makes travel documentaries and if I wanted that I opt either for my local ones (we have some pretty. good) or Bourdain. Also he's ofc focused on Europe which for me kinda isn't that important as I'm European. I've seen a few of his videos and also notices he kinda pushes this touristy romantic view of Europe. Which is nice ig, but maybe kinda off reality.

But his practical travel advice is gold. He covers things like "don't be a creative worrier", how to pack a suitcase, what to expect on your first time in Europe, etc. And his tips in each city are great. I relied on his guide in Croatia pretty heavily, and I think his books are great for people who want to find decent quality hotels and restaurants on a budget.

But his show is also fantastic and I appreciate how he does try to push his core audience (middle aged white people) to expand their horizons beyond the tourist traps.
For Europe, Rick Steves still has the sauce
