Ranger's Apprentice

Pros

• Rangers Apprentice series by John Flanagan.
• I work at a public library and they are still really popular! We keep multiple copies of the whole series and they regularly get reordered once they get too worn out!
• I read I think the first five or sixth of these last year as a 35 year old. I was just in a nostalgic mood to read the sort of fantasy books I would read as a kid. I imagine you'd find they stand up pretty well.
• Does anyone remember the Rangers Apprentice series by John Flanagan? I remember loving them as a kid and don't think I've ever seen them posted in here.

Cons

• Parent context: True, I know one of the later books set in a psuedo-japan was a bit of a drag to get through. Reply: I disagree, it wasn’t as action heavy as the others but that was mainly due to the fact that it had Will’s, Horace’s, Al...
• Love the series but I'm still mad will didn't end up with the princess. John already did the work to set everything up and he completely ignored it in favor of Alyss who he later offscreens later in the series which was just insulting.
• You stopped at a good stopping point. After book 6 they drop off in quality.
• I re-read them a few years ago, and for me, only the first 6 are great. The rest are all lacking as an adult rereading them, but man, in 6th grade? They were incredible.
• It doesn’t hold up to most of the amazing books I’ve read since, but it holds a special place in my heart.
