- This game isn’t complex enough that you need a playmat to keep track of things imo. I do think the plastic durable cards are a great idea though. That being said, I’d just get a cheap copy and sleeve it if I were you
- Didn't get with Redlands though, we played it in a board game cafe and it just didn't hit right for us.

The mechanics may be different but the war of attrition and tempo plays sound pretty similar to what I already get from Radlands.
Radlands is amazing and is cheap! Great choice.
Radlands, Cat and the Tower, Yakatabune, Nawalli, Viking See Saw All those should fit within a stocking, are great at 2p and some are likely under the radar gems that he may not be aware of
one of the best two player deck building games is RANDLANDS.
