We sell the QuadMini’s in twin xl primarily for people building two separate mattresses that are next to each other.
The QuadMini is my favorite part of my build. You can do a quadmini on top of an 8" and still have it on an adjustable frame.
14.75 ga + Quadmini + 1" 4 lb gel memory + 2" SoL medium might be something to consider.

I'm biased but i love the QuadMini. In your case you will want at least 3" of comfort layers above it so it wont bottom out. It has nice resilience when used properly.
Why not the quadmini? I am trying to keep the build under 12", with the quadmini you are looking at 14" which makes it too tall for my yorkie to jump.

Otherwise I really like the quadmini as a transition layer, I think that's a good route to go down.
The quadmini is great for making the 14.75 ga feel softer (it's a fantastic transition layer) and I highly recommend that route, I strongly prefer my 14.75 ga + quadmini builds to my 14.75 ga build without it.
