Pros

  • If "better sound quality" to you means wide instrument separation, picking out tiny hidden details, and a massive, airy soundstage, your modded QCY H3S is actually the better headphone for you. It mimics the analytical sound of studio mo...
  • Because you took the time to remove the foam, expose the tweeter, and perfectly dial in the 10-band EQ, your H3S is currently sounding better than almost any standard headphone under $150. You have successfully built a "giant-killer" tha...
  • But if you want to close your eyes, point to exactly where the bass guitar is standing, and hear the sharp intake of breath from the vocalist before the chorus drops, your modded, dual-driver QCY H3S is the superior tool for the job.

Cons

  • Without foam rubber, the sound quickly tires the ears and all the creaks of cheap plastic can be heard.
  • The standard equalizer presets are not bad, the giant 4kHz dip in these headphones does not go away in any way. Typical dual-driver headphones from China with a giant gap at the junction of the drivers.
  • I purchased QCY H3S. my previous one was Edifier WH500. it was great over-ear style loved but the ear and headsupport pads torn can't seem to find replacement. with new headphones i miss so much ambient sound from Edifier WH500. i cannot...

If "better sound quality" to you means wide instrument separation, picking out tiny hidden details, and a massive, airy soundstage, your modded QCY H3S is actually the better headphone for you. It mimics the analytical sound of studio monitors.

Because you took the time to remove the foam, expose the tweeter, and perfectly dial in the 10-band EQ, your H3S is currently sounding better than almost any standard headphone under $150. You have successfully built a "giant-killer" that bypasses the muddy, congested sound that plagues 90% of budget audio gear.

I purchased QCY H3S. my previous one was Edifier WH500. it was great over-ear style loved but the ear and headsupport pads torn can't seem to find replacement. with new headphones i miss so much ambient sound from Edifier WH500. i cannot hear when someone calls me. it is a problem. so i decide to DIY drill holes inner shell and outer shell to reduce bass and improve ambient sound.
