Pros

  • Psychonauts 2, in comparison, is much more interested in the overarching plot. It’s kinda like the first game is a Saturday morning cartoon and the sequel is the theatrical movie based on the cartoon. ... I also think the art design and...
  • I found the game incredibly creative and hilarious. The story wasn’t about Raz’s friends (I agree that part was pretty weak) it was about the messed up history of Raz’s family and the psychonauts. I thought that was great! Every level wa...
  • On the one hand, Psychonauts 2 looks amazing. Not just as a modern title compared to a PS2 prequel, but by itself its admittedly very pretty and has a lot of effort shining through.
  • Praise has been heaped on how they improved the combat. ... And again, it feels good. It's fast and snappy.
  • I had fun with Astro Bot, but Psychonauts 2 was a masterpiece.

Cons

  • All the levels in 2 felt like a streamlined "from A to B" exeprience gameplay wise. Certainly as memorable as the milkman GOAT or Napoleon's 5 dimensional board game
  • Psychonauts 2 is, and forgive me for repeating myself, very safe and bland. Compared to other games released alongside it? I really can't blame anyone for digging it. It's a quality platformer in an age where those are few and far betwee...
  • my main problem with Psychonauts 2, despite being a very solid platformer, is it scrubbed away a lot of the firsts quirks and eccentricities to deliver a more traditional experience. ... Psychonauts 2 is very... modern day Pixar. The cha...

  • Combat is the only terrible part of the game, really not fun at all, but the game low key, deep down, acknowledges this and offers an Easy Combat mode that makes combat trivial while keeping the platforming challenges intact. ... Overall...

I found the game incredibly creative and hilarious. The story wasn’t about Raz’s friends (I agree that part was pretty weak) it was about the messed up history of Raz’s family and the psychonauts. I thought that was great! Every level was full of creative uses of theme and amazing set pieces.

Psychonauts 2 is, and forgive me for repeating myself, very safe and bland. Compared to other games released alongside it? I really can't blame anyone for digging it. It's a quality platformer in an age where those are few and far between. It's solid, doesn't do much wrong, and does its job. But compared to the original? Man want a let down, personally.

This is a game that just flows. It's so perfectly woven. It's a modern 3D platformer with a heavy emphasis on story, which while simple has some crunch about real life psyche that adults can chew a bit into (and also some humor for grown ups).
