• Have you tried Priory of the Orange Tree? It's about an order of female magic users, lots of court intrigue, and sick dragon fights.
• Priory of the Orange tree is very epic, but has a lovely sapphic romance, plus dragons!
• I think the writing is better in Priory of the Orange Tree than in her first series, but that's just me.
• I read Priory of the Orange Tree and have been working through the poppy war. Got me in the mood for some books with the Asian style more snake like wingless dragons.

Cons

• Would you say that Priory of the Orange Tree fits the Dark Academia aesthetic? Reply: Not really 🤔 I don't remember there being all that much of the academia.
• It has the core of a good book but then just some weird misses.
• It’s been a while since I read it but I was left with much the vibes you share here….could have been but didn’t quite hit. I’d add to the list that the romance just needed more build up.
