Power Grid

Pros
- Harder to learn - Terraforming Mars, Dune: Imperium, Power Grid, Scythe, Orleans.
- Parent context: How is power grid? Reply: I describe it as “3 hours looking at a map of Germany and doing maths”. It’s one of my top 5 games.
- Could try it with some really simple games like Lords of Waterdeep and Power Grid.
- I’m always happy to recommend Power Grid for any gaming night
- From my personal collection, this is what I'd recommend: ... Power Grid
Cons
- I love the game. But we don't play it often, and I find that when my family brings it out every year or two to play, there are lots of "difficult to remember" little rules, and I personally don't find the rulebook to be very good.
- Power Grid.
- The only game I’ve found to be outright “bad” amongst all publishers and games is Power Grid and some of that is just bad UI and tutorial.
- I think Power Grid might be too complex for this request, since the OP finds 7 Wonders to be too complex.

One of traditional "next step" games is Power Grid - the theme makes it easier to learn than one would expect. Has sort of route building that TTR players would be familiar with.
If you're looking for something that feels like a strategic board game, that's probably Zoo Vadis or Power Grid.
Power Grid is good at 6 and probably best at 5
I don't dislike all of these games, but most of them either lack a central idea the game revolves around, or bury a good central idea below a lot of micromanagement and maths and I'm just not onboard for that (and thats from someone who loves Power Grid and Arkwright).
Current games that we love are harmonies, flip 7, power grid, Dominion, root, and pandemic.
