There are some very peaceful and serene areas of Phuket.
Phuket is overdeveloped and busy.
We didn't love Phuket -- not our vibe -- but spent a couple of amazing nights on nearby Koh Yao Yai at the end of our trip for the luxury resort experience in a quiet peaceful setting.

Phuket, or S.Thailand in general is a bit of a gamble, but that said, if you're staying for a week or two weeks, I would say you are guaranteed to get some good weather days, amongst some rainy ones.
Just spent 1+ week in Thailand (check out Phuket etc), KL probably 2 days works and then 2/3 days in Singapore.
Go to anything that isn't catered towards resort, but viewing culture and you don't even meet one.
If you're looking solely for a beach getaway Phuket could be another option.
