Paros
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Paros is highly recommended as a well-balanced Greek island destination that offers a mix of beautiful beaches, a quality food scene, and vibrant nightlife without the extreme crowds found on Santorini or Mykonos. It is frequently praised for its relaxed pace and charming town centers, particularly Naoussa, which provides a fun atmosphere that avoids the 'circus' feel of more commercialized islands.
Pros
- Beautiful beaches and scenic town centers
- Vibrant nightlife that is active but less chaotic than Mykonos
- Excellent public transport options during the summer season
- Great food scene and 'super chill' atmosphere
- Convenient base for island hopping to Naxos and Antiparos
Cons
- Pricing can be high, with some travelers finding costs comparable to Mykonos
Caveats
- Public transport efficiency is specifically highlighted for the summer window; availability may vary in off-peak months
- Travelers are cautioned against over-scheduling too many nearby islands to avoid 'over-traveling'
Best for
- Travelers seeking a balance of beach days and nights out
- First-time visitors to Greece
- Families looking for a relaxed environment
Avoid if
- You are seeking a strictly budget-oriented destination (prices may not be significantly lower than major hubs)
- You want a completely secluded experience far from any nightlife

For Greece, base yourselves in Athens for history and culture, then consider islands like Naxos or Paros for beautiful beaches with a more relaxed, less-crowded feel.
We really enjoyed Paros and Antiparos. You can ferry to Naxos from there.
Try maybe Paros. It’s an island right above IOS. Also you can rent a boat with out a skipper there and it’s a great experience …
Maybe try Naxos and Paros, beautiful beaches, good food and way less busy than the main islands.
I would avoid Mykonos at least, and stayed more at Paros or Naxos!
Naxos and Paros are more balanced (beach days + nights out).
We spent a week in Athens and 5 nights on paros, which was her favorite because we rented a great Airbnb with a lovely front porch she could sit on and play with the local wildlife (aka cats).
Naxos or Paros are easier to enjoy at a relaxed pace, with nice beaches, good food and charming towns. They are also usually less crowded than Santorini in late August.
Do you reckon cut either of Naxos/Paros and spend more time between two islands? I mainly chose three due to the short distance between each, though to be fair I’ve only just learned about Greece and am very new to travelling in general haha. Definitely don’t want to over-travel.
Paros hits every single thing on that list - beaches are beautiful in late April before the summer crowds, food scene is genuinely good, and the nightlife in Naoussa is fun without being the full Mykonos circus.
