Pros

  • The landscape at Paracas is truly incredible, I’ve really never seen anything quite like it.
  • I really liked Paracas. I recommend taking the Peru Hop bus there, and doing their 3-day tour. They’ll take you on a boat to the Ballestas island, and you’ll get to do sandboarding and dune buggies. They also have some off-the-beaten pat...
  • For Peru I would highly recommend Arequipa, Huacachina (an insane oasis in the desert) and Paracas (a coastal town with some great wildlife and windsurfing).

Cons

  • Paracas. It's a nice beach town, though the ocean is cold. The Ballesta Islands are worth seeing, as is a tour to the national park. You could also do an evening trip to see Huacachina.
  • Paracas: loved it there! Excellent seafood, nice weather. Beach was a bit smelly and had lots of seaweed washed up. Would get a hotel with a pool next time.

They also have some off-the-beaten path activities, like the underground 19th century slave tunnels. That tour is exclusive, no other way to see them. Worth it.
