Pros
- It's my second favorite Paper Mario behind TTYD. The whole time I was thinking just how much of an entertaining, feelgood and wholesome experience it was

- I love stupid puns, timed puzzles, and beautiful paper art, so my experience was very positive. ... Art/Graphical Experience: It's gorgeous. ... Soundtrack: The soundtrack slaps ... Exploration: This was the biggest standout to me. Combi...
- Even if you compare this to The Origami King, where each boss battle has specific weaknesses; you are at least continuing to learn the same battle wheel, and building on your prior experience, which will help you in future battles.
Cons
- Loved the origami paper aesthetic but combat felt flat compared to older PPs.
- Yes, the game outside of combat was a treat. Beautiful, with many interesting places to go and explore. I wanted to be in that world, and go everywhere it had to offer. But then, ay ay ay... The combat was horrible.
- I thought the writing was charming, I liked the characters, and the locations were all very well done. I wanted so badly to like it, but the main gameplay mechanic made me put it down halfway.

I am glad I played it, because it was a wonderful "experience" of a game. The way they utilized the paper world, and especially rescuing folded Toads throughout the game gave me no end of joy. The writing pretty much always delivered amusement, and a few surprisingly gut-wrenching emotional moments.
I liked the combat, but I found here that it didn’t change much over the course of the adventure - you didn’t get new abilities in quite the same way - and I personally found after the cruise ship that I’d had my fill & I didn’t feel a big urge to see the adventure through.
I love stupid puns, timed puzzles, and beautiful paper art, so my experience was very positive. ... Art/Graphical Experience: It's gorgeous. ... Soundtrack: The soundtrack slaps ... Exploration: This was the biggest standout to me. Combined with the gorgeous visuals, they paced the exploration really well.
I couldn’t stand modern (2012-2020) Paper Mario, including the bit I played of Origami King. ... It lent an air of insincerity to the experience, like it was more corporate than creative.
