Pros

  • One thing that helped bridge the gap for me was using Pangea app since it shows other expats nearby who are also looking to meet and when they’re free, which made plans feel more natural
  • I’ve also had luck with Pangea app when I’m not staying in hostels, it’s more direct and helpful when you just want to meet people nearby without guessing
  • When I don’t have the energy to cold start conversations I’ve also used Pangea app to meet other travelers nearby. It helps take some of the pressure off and makes it easier to find someone who’s already open to hanging out
  • what helped me was using the Pangea app whenever I land somewhere new. It takes the pressure off because you’re meeting people who are already open to hanging out and it makes those first connections way easier.
  • What helped even more was using the Pangea app whenever I felt stuck in my own bubble it made it easier to meet other travelers nearby without forcing anything

The first two months were rough though, I spent a lot of time online trying to figure out low awkward ways to meet people and that’s how I ended up on the Pangea app. From there I slowly started meeting strangers for coffee or walks and it helped me build confidence and actually make friends.
