Specifically I wanted something that can disappear in the Osprey Farpoint
The Farpoint is a decent bag for the money the strength is in the loss transferring harness to get the weight on your hips. The torso length is adjustable to get a proper fit.
For a great 40L bag with backpack straps check the Farpoint/ Fairview Osprey bags. The main bag is 40L and there is a detachable 15L day pack that can double as an under seat/personal bag.
Farpoint ostensibly has far more comfortable carry system that the other two by simple virtue of using a "real" load bearing hip belt supported by rigid frame and working load lifters. In case of heavy and humid heat, this type of carry system can be loosened at the shoulders so that the backpack literally stops touching your back above the hip belt.
The matador is just a nicer bag overall than the farpoint, but the farpoint definitely is the better bag for comfort.
We use the 40L Osprey Fairview/Fairpoint backpack and love it!
