Pros

  • I get why I don't see more Osmose content on this sub, but I do wish there were more Osmose jams on youtube. I REALLY enjoy listening to how different players interact with the instrument.
  • Tweaked *CS-80+ladder* preset on the Osmose, cosmos in my brain. 🌌
  • It’s a great piece of kit. Apparently Expressive is coming out with an overlay for the Eagan Matrix in 2026 so that deeper programming becomes possible on the Osmose. I like it for existing presets and to control plugins.
  • I usually pick a preset I like and just tweak the macros and settings on the Osmose.
  • I'm a big fan of the original and dig the added octave.

Cons

  • without a separate computer the Osmose is essentially a preset machine. And using it as an external MIDI controller for other synths isn't exactly a breeze, which further limits its potential usability in my opinion. Along with the small...
  • I've been interested in one of these, but have seen multiple reviews that sound programming is *very difficult* and requires a 3rd party tool that's pretty math focused.
  • It doesn't have the rear attachment points like the 49 version though, so no Continuum holders on this one for me!

without a separate computer the Osmose is essentially a preset machine. And using it as an external MIDI controller for other synths isn't exactly a breeze, which further limits its potential usability in my opinion. Along with the small keybed these were always the three downsides keeping me from putting the Osmose at the top of my wishlist, despite it being one of the coolest things I've seen in the synth world.

For me the Osmose & Continuum combo is perfect, they're both great in their own ways and neither can completely replace the other imo

Have you ever used an Osmose or PB12? That keybed (and the gesture controls that make the keybed extra special) is a completely different experience, it's sublime.
