Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • Some other austropop like Opus and Drahdiwaberl
  • I haven’t noticed too many issues with the opus, although I definitely think a better grinder is needed.
  • At first I felt an upgrade from my opus, I think flavors are clearer.
  • Opus is a brand that would normally be found in bike shops.
  • Opus is a 2010s codec with even better compression so it's not quite as universally supported but it's getting more common now.

Cons

  • Opus isn't as nice as encore esp which isn't as nice as df54
  • Made Opus, Quintessa, Staglin, Alpha Mega, seem pedestrian.
  • I own the Opus. Agree it's far less impressive in person than it looks in advertising. Feels pretty cheap, and the adjustment system is deceptively complicated, with very poor documentation. ... this thing remains grinds like crazy.

Low-bitrate Opus is higher-quality than low-bitrate MP3; somewhere in the 128kbps-192kbps range, they (and just about every other lossy format) converges to a consistent high quality.
